Angelina Jolie Voight was born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California. Jolie is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. She has one brother, actor James Haven. Jolie’s parent’s divorced in 1976. At the age of eleven Jolie began attending the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, which has an affiliation with New York University. She studied theater there for two years and appeared in several stage productions. Jolie attended Beverly Hills High School.
Jolie’s career began in the modeling industry at the age of 14. She began starring in small productions such as music videos, and even stage performances. Eventually she broke into film. Her career was enhanced when she won a Golden Globe for her performance in the biographical made-for-television film George Wallace in 1997.
