Ben Stiller's Education Background

Benjamin Edward “Ben” Stiller was born November 30, 1965 in New York City, New York. He is the son of legendary comedians and actors, Jerry Still and Anne Meara. The couple were a predominate comedy team in the 1960’s. While growing-up around show business, Stiller attended the Cathedral School and graduated from the Calhoun School in New York in 1983. Stiller’s interest in acting was intertwined through out his childhood in the form of theater productions and even television appearances with his parents.
After graduation, he enrolled as a film student at the University of California, Los Angeles. Still stayed at the university for nine months. He then decided to return to New York City. Once in New York, Stiller made his way through acting classes at the Actors Studio, auditions, and attempted to find an agent.
Stiller’s career began as he received some stage roles on Broadway. He also did some small film productions, and even wrote and starred on Saturday Night Live for a short period of time. His biggest break came in the early nineties with The Ben Stiller Show. The sketch comedy show was picked up by MTV and then Fox, and although it was short lived, it did make a name for Stiller. The nineties were also a period where Stiller had some minor film roles. He had his directorial debut in in 1994, with the film Reality Bites. Stiller also starred in this film that did well at the box offices. Stiller’s comedy career was forever sealed when he starred in the 1998 film, There’s Something About Mary. While Stiller continued to take roles in some dramas, he became known as a comedy actor. He has had much success in acting, directing and production through out the years. Some of his popular movies include Mystery Men, Zoolander, Meet the Parents, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Night at the Museum.
Stiller’s career continues to thrive. To date his films have grossed more than $2.1 billion domestically, with an average of $73 million per film. He has been married to actress Christine Taylor since 2000 and the couple has two children.
