This boxing champion is one of the new trainers introduced in season 11 of The Biggest Loser, but being on the show isn’t Cara Castronuova’s first claim to fame. She’s a two-time Golden Gloves winner, trainer and stuntwoman.
Cara Castronuova grew up in Elmont, New York. She attended Hofstra University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. She wrestled throughout high school and college.
Her education in boxing started at the age of five, when she first learned in the family garage with her father, who was a former Marine. Castronuova entered the boxing ring as a youth boxing trainer. She won her first fight in 2002 at the Empire State Games in Syracuse. Castronuova went on to win many titles, including the “Silver Gloves” in 2004, the NYABC title, the Metros, the Empire State Games, and two Golden Gloves titles in 2005 and 2006.
Her passion for competitive fighting extended to martial arts, which Castronuova studied extensively. This has led to acting jobs as a stuntwoman and stunt coordinator. However, boxing ermines her primary passion. “Boxing competitively taught me how important it is to never give up, no matter how hard it gets,” she says.
