Christian Bale is an English actor who is possibly most famous for his role as “Batman” in Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies. The newest film in this series is currently in production and will be released in 2012. Anne Hathaway will be joining Bale in this film as Catwoman. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of this talented actor.
Bale was born on January 30, 1974 in Wales, UK. He is the youngest of David and Jenny Bale’s four children. His father was an entrepreneur, talent manager, and commercial pilot. His mother was a performer and circus clown. The family moved around quite a bit and Bale spent his youth in several countries, including the UK, Portugal, and the USA.

Bale attended several schools for his early education, including the Dolphin School in Berkshire, England, and the Bournemouth School in Dorset, England. While in school, he played rugby and practiced ballet and guitar. His sister, Louise, is the person who inspired him to become an actor through her work in the theater.
Bale got his first acting gig when he was eight-years old in a fabric softener commercial. In 1984, he appeared in “The Nerd,” his stage debut. Two years later, he made his film debut in a made-for-television film, “Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna.” His performance caught the eye of his co-star, Amy Irving, who was married to Steven Spielberg. After “Anastasia,” Spielberg cast Bale in “Empire of the Sun.” This performance received much praise from critics and the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures awarded him the first ever “Best Performance by a Juvenile Actor.”
Bale has starred in many famous movies, including “American Pyscho,” “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin,” and “The Machinist.” In 2004, Bale won the title role in Nolan’s “Batman Begins” films. “Batman Begins” premiered in June 2005 in the USA and Bale won the Best Hero Award at the MTV Movie Awards for the film. “The Dark Knight,” the second film in the series, premiered in July 2008, earning a record-breaking $158.4 million during it’s opening weekend.
