Courteney Cox Arquette is an American actress. She is probably best known for her role as Monica Geller in the television series Friends and her role in the Scream movies. Currently, Courteney is starring in Cougar Town, an ABC sitcom. She will soon be gracing the big screen when she revives her role as Gale Weathers in the next Scream movie, which premiers on April 15, 2011. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of this beautiful actress.
Courteney was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 15, 1964. Her parents are Richard and Courteney Cox. She has three older siblings: Virginia, Dottie, and Richard Jr. Her parents divorced in 1974 when Cox Courteney was 10-years old.
Courteney graduated from Mountain Brook High School. After high school, she moved to Washington, D.C. to attend Mount Vernon College. However, she did not earn her degree in architecture as she had planned; instead, she decided to pursue an acting and modeling career.
Courteney’s first taste of fame came when she danced with Bruce Springsteen in his music video, Dancing in the Dark. She also received much notice in 1985 when she became the first person to say “period” on a television commercial for Tampax tampons. She also appeared in a few movies and television shows, such as Masters of the Universe and Family Ties. However, she really became a household name in 1994 when she was cast as Monica Geller in Friends. (Fun fact: she was originally asked to audition for the role of Rachel Green.) Friends launched Courteney to A-List status. During this time, she also appeared in several films, including the Scream series, The Runner, and Bedtime Stories.
On a personal note, Courteney met and married David Arquette while filming the first Scream movie. The couple married on June 12, 1999. Five years later, Courteney gave birth to the couple’s first child, Coco Riley Courteney. Sadly, in October 2010, it was announced that they couple was separating, but as of March 2011, it is rumored that they are working on fixing their marriage together.
To see Courteney reprise her role in Scream 4, head to the theaters on April 15, 2011.
