Education Backgrounds: Members of Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi is a successful American rock band from New Jersey. The band was formed in 1983 and the members have remained static with the exception of the bass player ever since.
Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.) was born March 2, 1962 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He is the son of John Francis Bongiovi, Sr. a former Marine and barber and Carol Sharkey, also a former Marine and florist. Jovi has two brothers, Anthony and Matthew. Jovi attended St. Joseph High School and Sayrevillie War Memorial High School both in New Jersey.
Bon Jovi is best known for being the lead singer and founder of Bon Jovi. He can add musician, song writer, and actor to his resume as well. As a solo artist, Bon Jovi has multiple awards, including a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination. His albums have sold over 130 million albums worldwide. Bon Jovi was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Monmouth University in 2001.
Richard Stephen “Richie” Sambora was born July 11, 1959 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He is the son of Adam Sambora, a factory foreman, and Joan Sambora, a secretary. Sambora attended Woodbridge High School in New Jersey. He graduated in 1977. Sambora is the lead guitarist for Bon Jovi. He is also a music producer. He and Jon Bon Jovi are credited with being the primary songwriting unit of the band.
David Bryan (born David Bryan Rashbaum) was born February 7, 1962 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. His father, Eddie Rashbaum, was a trumpet player. Bryan attended Herbert Hoover Middle School, then J.P. Stevens High School, from which he graduated. Bryan was accepted into Rutgers University, but dropped out to attend Juilliard in New York City. Bryan plays keyboard for Bon Jovi and is considered one of the best keyboard players in rock history. He has also written a Broadway musical, Memphis.
Hector Samuel Juan “Tico” Torres was born October 7, 1953 in New York. Torres was raised in Colonia, New Jersey by his parents, Hector and Emma, Cuban immigrant. He has one sister, Opi. Torres attended John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in New Jersey. Torres is the drummer for Bon Jovi. He has been with the band since it’s inception in 1983.
Hugh “Huge” McDonald was born December 28, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. McDonald is the bass player for Bon Jovi. He is the only member that has not been with the band since it’s formation. McDonald unofficially replaced former bassist, Alec John Such, upon his departure in 1994. McDonald has had an extensive career. He has played with many artist such as Willie Nelson, Ringo Starr, Cher, Alice Cooper, and Ricky Martin. McDonald has played with Bon Jovi multiple times before joining the band.
