U2 is an Irish rock band from Dublin. The band was formed in 1976 when drummer, Larry Mullen posted a “musicians wanted” notice on the school bulletin board. The teenagers went on to be a world wide sensation. Producing twelve albums, multiple hit songs, and appearing in several world tours over the last 3 decades, their music is well known around the world.
Paul David Hewson, most commonly known by his stage name, Bono, was born May, 10, 1960 in Dublin. He is the son of Brendan Robert “Bob” Hewson and Iris Hewson. Bono has one brother, Norman Robert Hewson. Bono attended the local primary school, Glasnevin National School. He then attended Mount Tremple Comprehensive School, as did his future fellow band mates. Bono is the lead singer for U2 and is also known for his humanitarian efforts.
David Howell Evans, more widely known as The Edge, was born August 8, 1961 in Essex, England. His parents are Garvin and Gwenda Evans. The Edge attended St. Andrew’s National School before entering Mount Temple Comprehensive School. The Edge is the guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist for U2
Adam Charles Clayton was born on March 13, 1960 in Chinnor, Oxfordshire, England. He is the oldest child of Brian and Jo Clayton. Clayton attended boarding school at Castle Park School in Dalkey. He then attended St. Columba’s in Rathfarnham. He changed schools and he ended up at Mount Temple Comprehensive in Dublin.
Clayton is the bassist for U2.
Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Mullen, Jr. was born on October 31, 1961 in Artane, Dublin, Ireland. He is the son of Larry and Maureen Mullen. He attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School along with all the other members of U2. Mullen is the drummer for U2.
