Elizabeth Perkins' Education Background

Elizabeth Perkins is an American actress. She is very well known for her roles in Big, The Flintstones, and Miracle on 34th Street. She also been played Celia Hodes on the popular Showtime series Weeds. Her next venture to the big screen is Hop, which premieres on April 1, 2010, in the USA. Perkins was born on November 18, 1960, in Queens, New York. Her parents are Jo Williams and James Perkins; he parents divorced in 1963 and Perkins was raised in Colrain, Massachusetts. She graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon School and then moved to Chicago for three years, where she studied acting at the Goodman School of Drama.

In 1986, Perkins was named one of the 12 “Promising New Actors of 1986” and has received much acclaim since then. Her first film role was in About Last Night…, but she did not have her breakthrough role until she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Big in 1988. In 1991, she portrayed a terminal cancer patient in The Doctor.
Perkins appeared in several movies and television shows, such as Battery Park and the remake of Miracle on 34th Street in 1994. She has won two Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series and has been nominated three times for an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work as Celia Hodes on Weeds. Perkins has said that Celia is her favorite role that she has played in her career, but on May 6, 2010, she announced that she did not plan to appear on the show after the fifth season.
On a personal note, Perkins has been married twice. She has a daughter, Hannah Phillips, from her first marriage to Terry Kinney. In 2000, she married Julio Macat, who had three sons. Maybe the entire family will be hitting the movie theaters soon to see Perkins in Hop.
