Fighting Irish Finding a Home in Yankee Stadium

Nowadays, college football is played not only in college football stadiums, but in professional ones as well. Taking a cue from the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the Brigham Young Cougars (they are scheduled to play their season opener in the new Dallas Cowboys’ stadium), the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have entered into talks to play one of their games in the new Yankee stadium.
Thus far, no date has been decided upon, but the Yankees are in fact open to college football being played within their stadium. The Fighting Irish have expressed an interest in playing their 2013 match-up against the Army Black Knights in the stadium.
College football has been played in professional stadiums for a long time. These games allow a larger number of fans to become involved in the sport, as well as open different regions to the teams. I think this is a great idea for college sports. When an non-traditional fan base is allowed to witness something as great as college football firsthand, the sport can only benefit.
