George Clooney's Education Background

George Timothy Clooney was born May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky. His father is Nick Clooney, a former anchorman, game show host, and American Movie Classics host. His Mother is Nina Bruce, a former beauty pageant queen. Clooney has one older sister named Adelia. As a child the future actor spent a lot of time on his father’s sets. His young participation in his father’s shows began his interest for the industry.
He attended Blessed Sacrament School in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. He also spent a portions of his childhood in Ohio where he attended St. Michael’s School in Columbus, and St. Susanna School in Mason, Ohio.
By high school, the family moved to Augusta, Kentucky. There, Clooney attended Augusta High School. From 1979 to 1981, Clooney majored in History and Political Science at Northern Kentucky University and briefly at the University of Cincinnati. He did not graduate from either institution. Before his acting career took off he held odd jobs such as selling men’s suits and cutting tobacco.
Clooney’s first break came when he was cast in a supporting role in the sitcom Roseanne during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Stardom was achieved when Clooney played Dr. Doug Ross on the hit NBC drama ER from 1994 to 1999. While still working on ER, Clooney’s movie career began with his performance in From Dusk till Dawn.
Clooney’s career as a film star continues to thrive today. He has starred in multiple successful movies. Some of his films include Batman & Robin, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve, Good Night, and Good Luck, Syriana, Ocean’s Thirteen, and Up in the Air. Clooney also became a director, taking directorial roles in several of his movies as well. As an actor, he has received two Golden Globe Awards and an Academy Award.
