How to Stay Connected When Studying Abroad [VIDEO]

I am absolutely in love with Sevilla, Spain: I love the people, the food, the atmosphere, the historical buildings. I love everything.
But, I also love my people back home, like my friends and family, whom I miss terribly.
Here are some of my (cheap or free) tips for keeping your relationship back home strong while you are living in a foreign country. They can be applied to any type of relationship – romantic, friendship, or family – and will help you stay connected to the people you care about the most.

Studying abroad can be very trying for any relationship, especially if you are going to be abroad for a long period of time.
Some of the things I recommend are:

  • Skype: audio or video chat with someone for free, anywhere in the world
  • Postcards: it’s a small present that keep you connected back home
  • Share an event: read a book together, schedule time to look at the moon together, etc.

However, just because you choose to further your education in another country, or even another continent, it does not mean your relationships will suffer. All you have to do is to stay in contact with those you care about, and things will be just fine when you return.
