Ian McShane's Education Background

Ian McShane is an English actor who is best known for his work in television on Lovejoy, Dallas, and Deadwood. He will soon gain recognition when he co-stars with Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. EDUinReview will now take a look at his education background.
McShane was born on September 29, 1942, in Blackburn, England. His parents are Irene and Harry McShane. He grew up in Urmston, England, and attended Stretford Grammar School. He then went on to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
McShane first made his acting debut in 1962 in The Wild and the Willing. This movie led to other roles such as The Battle of Britain, Villain, and Agent Cody Banks. Since then, McShane has starred in more than 30 films. Some of his more recent films in the USA include Hot Rod and We Are Marshall. In addition to acting in live-action films, McShane has provided his voice for two recent Dreamworks releases: Shrek the Third and Kung Fu Panda.

Although McShane has had a very diverse and extensive film career, it is his television acting career that has earned him the most acclaim. He has earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Drama and an Emmy nomination for lead actorfor his work on Deadwood. He was named TV’s Sexiest Villain by People Magazine in 2005 and was one of GQ’s Men of the Year.
In 2000, McShane made his musical debut in The Witches of Eastwick in London’s West End. He has also acted in The Glass Menagerie, Promise, and The Homecoming.
On a personal note, McShane has been married three times and has two children – Kate and Morgan – with his second wife, Ruth Post. He is currently married to Gwen Humble, whom he married on August 30, 1980.
McShane’s next movie to be released in the USA will be Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which will be released on May 20, 2011.
