Introducing the Candwich: The Sandwich in a Can

If the thought of your regular old sandwich container, be it bag or box, is giving you the back-to-school blues, fret no more. Here to add a dash of ridiculousness to your midday meal the Candwich, a sandwich that comes packaged in a soda can. The Candwich comes in three flavors: peanut butter and strawberry jam, peanut butter and grape jam, and of course that classic cafeteria staple, the barbecued chicken sandwich.
According to the product’s website, the “unique packaging offers convenience and protection while backpacking, camping, biking and other activities.” Because the Candwich has a long shelf life and does not need to be refrigerated (which makes us wonder how much sugar and preservatives the product must contain; owner Mark Kirkland told us the nutrition facts would be available soon), they further suggest it “is perfect for emergency food storage needs in the event of natural disasters.” So, stock up on the four-pack for future times of need?
As if the Candwich weren’t enough to make a news-splash on its own, the product also comes with a controversy. According to the New York Times, $145 million dollars of investor’s money was sunk into the project by Travis L. Wright, but money was intended for prime real estate investments. Although Wright still has faith in the selling power the product, but only time will tell if investors will see a return on the sandwich in a can.
