James Franco's Education Background

James Franco is an American actor who was born on April 19, 1978. James first reached international fame in 2002 when he portrayed Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man films. In his newest movie “Eat Pray Love,” James will be co-starring with Julia Roberts. We’ve taken a look back at James’ educational background and his movie career up to this point.
James was born in Palo Alto, California. He attended Palo Alto High School and graduated in 1996. His senior class voted him as the “Best Smile,” something that came in handy when he started his acting career a few years later. After college, James enrolled at UCLA. He planned to study English. However, after his freshman year, James decided to terminate his educational pursuits in favor of pursuing a professional career as an actor.
James’ first acting experience was in “Freaks and Geeks,” a short-lived television show about high school life that premiered in 1999. In 2001, James starred in the TV biopic “James Dean;” this performance earned him a Golden Globe Award and nominations for an Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
As mentioned earlier, James first became a household name when he played Harry Osborn in “Spider-Man.” He reprized this role in the sequels in 2004 and in 2007. After enjoying success at the box office, James decided to go back to pursuing his education. He will soon earn his master’s degree from Columbia University in creative writing. James also has plans to pursue his PhD in English and film studies at Yale in September.
