James Pickens Jr.'s Education Background

James Pickens, Jr. was born October 26, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. Pickens began acting in college. He attended Bowling Green State University. In 1973, Pickens earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from BGSU. His professional career stated on the stage, and he performed in a number of plays with Roundabout Theatre in New York City before moving to the West Coast.
He is currently best known for the role of Dr. Richard Webber on Grey’s Anatomy, but Pickens held several television supporting roles before he was selected in 2005 to star in Grey’s Anatomy. His first television role was playing Zack Edwards on the soap opera Another World.
Currently he is married with two children, a son and a daughter.
