Jay Leno's Education Background

James Douglas Muir “Jay” Leno was born on April 28, 1950 in Rochelle, New York. His parents are Angelo and Catherine Leno. Leno’s father was an insurance salesman and his mother was a homemaker. Leno was the youngest of two sons, he has one older brother named Patrick. Leno grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. While attending high school, Leno’s guidance counselor recommended he drop out of school. However he went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in speech therapy from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts.
Leno has had a lengthy career in the comedy business. Beginning from the comedy club he started while in college. Leno worked as a stand-up comedian. By 1987, Leno was a regular substitute host for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show. Leno took over the show in 1992 upon Carson’s retirement. Today, Leno is famously known as the long time host of NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Through out Leno’s long tenure on The Tonight Show, he has continued to perform as a stand-up comedian.
Leno has been married to Mavis Leno since 1980. The couple has no children. Leno is also known for his extensive car vehicle collection. Leno owns about 200 vehicles, including approximately 100 cars. It is reported that Leno earns $32 million each year. His total net worth is estimated to be at least $150 million. Leno claims that he has never spent any of the money he’s made from hosting The Tonight Show. He claims to have lived off the millions he’s made from performing stand-up comedy.
