Jennifer Lopez is an American actress, singer, record producer, dancer, fashion designer, and television producer. She was born on July 24, 1969 in Castle Hill, New York. Both of her parents were born in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Lopez was raised in the Roman Catholic religion and attended Catholic schools through high school. She graduated high school from Preston High School in the Bronx, NY.
After high school, Lopez attended Baruch College for one semester. However, she soon quit her pursuit of a higher education to pursue her singing and dancing dreams.
Her first blockbuster film, Selena, was released in 1997, in which she portrayed famous Spanish singer, Selena Quintanill-Pérez. She has also starred in many other films, including Anaconda, The Wedding Planner, Enough, Maid in Manhattan, Monster-in-Law, and The Back-up Plan.
Her first CD, “On the 6,” was released on June 1, 1999. She was nominated for a Grammy for her song “Let’s Get Loud.” Her next CD, “J. Lo,” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 on January 23, 2001. To date, Lopez has released six studio albums: “J to tha L-O!,” “This is Me…Then,” “Rebirth,” “Como Ama Una Mujer,” and “Brave.”
Most recently, Lopez has become a judge on American Idol. The other judges are Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson.
