Jesse Eisenberg's Education Background

Jesse Eisenberg was born in Queens, New York. He grew up in Queens and in New Jersey with his two older sisters. In East Brunswick, New Jersey, he attended the East Brunswick Public Schools at Frost School, Hammarskjold Middle School, Churchill Junior High and East Brunswick High School.
Eisenberg began doing children’s theater at a young age. He appeared as an understudy in the 1996 Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ play Summer and Smoke. During his senior year of high school, Eisenberg landed the lead role of the movie Roger Dodger. Since then, he has appeared in a number of movies, including The Squid and the Whale, Adventureland, Holy Rollers, Zombieland and The Social Network.
Instead of attending university to study acting, Eisenberg decided to pursue a broader field of interest. He went to college at The New School in New York City. He was a liberal arts major with a focus called “Democracy and Cultural Pluralism.” In an interview with Gothamist, Eisenberg explained that his choice of major was driven by a desire to write plays. “I would also like to know about the world – this seems important regardless of your profession,” he added.
In 2010, a reading of Eisenberg’s play, The Ambassadors, was stage at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in New York City.
