Jones NY Releases Little Black Book of Career Advice

Often when college graduates embark on their new careers, they are wide-eyed and willing, looking to soak up any knowledge and advice bestowed upon them.
Jones NY has recognized that and created a Little Black Book of Career Advice from over 100 of whom they believe to be the most influential women of our time.
Ranging from Bravo’s Real Housewives to the President of Epic Records, to a former 1st Daughter, the advice and case studies can be read or listened to via audio files and begins with a foreword from former White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers.
Here are a couple highlights from the collection:

• Arianna Huffington (Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post): As Emerson said: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
• Barbie: “Whoever said you can’t do it all is wrong!”
• Bobbi Brown (CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics): “Only once in my career did I go against what I believed in when all along I knew I shouldn’t have, but I was told I would become irrelevant if I did not jump on board and follow the trend of the moment. It proved to be my only professional regret and I vowed to never let it happen again.”
• Estelle (Singer): “There’s only you on the guest list. This is your life. As much as you’re going to try, you can’t take everyone with you.”
• Fern Mallis (Founder of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week): “…be happy, like both the people you are spending your day with as much as the work process itself. You spend the greatest amount of time with these people, usually more than your family, so enjoy the time, the camaraderie, and the process.”
• Kathy Calvin (CEO The United Nations Foundation): “It’s better to take on a big idea or challenge than succeed at smaller, manageable tasks. If you’re going to think, think big. If you’re going to work hard, make it really count. Pick two things every year you want to achieve, and go after them! The rest will follow.”
• Rachel Roy (Fashion Designer): “…always be the first to arrive and the last to leave.”
