Katherine Marie Heigl was born November 24, 1978 in Washington, DC. Heigl began her career as a child model. She was photographed for catalogs and magazines. She eventually began doing television commercials and films. Heigl attended New Canaan High School, and struggled to balance acting and modeling with her studies. She dropped out after her sophomore year of high school. At the age of 17, she appeared in the film Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, directed by Seven Seagal.
Heigl starred in many television movies and major motion movies as her fame continued to grow. She was cast on Grey’s Anatomy in 2005 in the role of Dr. Izzie Stevens. Heigl left Grey’s Anatomy in 2010 and is currently married and in the process of adopting a child.
She has continued to act in film as well, starring in movies such as Knocked Up, 27 Dresses, Life As We Know It, Killers and The Ugly Truth.
