Longhorns 'Remember The 10' on Ten Year Anniversary

In memory of the 2001 plane crash that took the lives of 10 members of the Oklahoma State University family, the Longhorns wore “Remember The 10” shirts on the tenth anniversary of the tragic event. The University of Texas Longhorns played there exactly ten years after the crash. Fans and players alike donned the shirts. “That was classy,” said OSU coach Travis Ford.
Texas coach Rick Barnes was the only Big 12 coach in the conference when the plane crashed. “What I remember more than anything is we had just landed in Austin from Arizona, and the first thing that went through my mind was Coach Sutton,” he said of former Cowboy coach Eddy Sutton. “Tonight he came into the locker room and we had a few minutes together. I really thought a lot about him today.”
More than 13,000 t-shirts were placed on the seats of Gallagher-Iba Arena by members of the OSU athletic department, including the equestrian team. There was also a ten second moment of silence before the game began.
Another event in honor of the 2001 plane crash is the annual “Remember the 10” run in Stillwater. This year, the race will be held on April 16.
