Mike Tomlin's Education Background

Mike Tomlin is the head coach for the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers. At only 38-years old, he is the third youngest head coach in any major North American professional sports association. Tomlin and the Steelers will be playing the Packers on February 6, 2011 in Super Bowl XLV. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of this talented athlete and coach.
Tomlin was born on March 15, 1972 in Newport News, Virginia. He grew up in Newport News and graduated from Denbigh High School. After high school, Tomlin attended the College of William and Mary. While in college, Tomlin was the starting wide received/tight end for the Tribe for three-years. He scored a record breaking 20 touchdown catches while at W&M. He also became a member of the fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi while he was in college.

In 1995, Tomlin became the wide receiver coach at Virginia Millitary Institute. Two years later, he moved to Arkansas and coached the defensive backs for Arkansas State University. Tomlin became a NFL defensive backs coach in 2001 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2007, the Steelers stole him away from the Buccaneers and Tomlin became the head coach.
