National Panhellenic Conference Releases Annual 2010 Report

The National Panhellenic Conference (known more commonly as Panhellenic or NPC) has released their 2010 annual report. Panhellenic is the governing umbrella organization for the historically social 26 national sororities or women’s fraternities within the United States, England and Canada’s collegiate Greek system.
The 26 chapters are Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Delta Phi Epsilon, Delta Zeta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Phi Sigma Sigma, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Delta Tau, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Theta Phi Alpha and Zeta Tau Alpha.
Founded 108 years ago, Panhellenic changed its governing structure this year. The Executive Committee now has five voting members, three (College Panhellenics Committee Chairman, Budget and Finance Committee Chairman and Alumnae Panhellenics Committee Chairman) who are appointed and two (Chairman and Vice Chairmen) rotating positions. Nicki Reas Menely was also hired on as the first Executive Director.
Currently active on 661 campuses, NPC prides itself on the lifetime membership of its loyal sorority sisters, with 4,509 active alumnae associations.
According to the report, the 566 collegiate Panhellenic chapters raised $4,392,645 for philanthropic events and logged 4,005,922 hours of community service. The 208 Alumnae Panhellenic chapters raised $73,815 for community projects and $299,052 for scholarships to be awarded to 323 sorority members.
There are currently 3,011 active collegiate sorority and women’s fraternity chapters with 268,938 undergraduate members. 95,401 of those students were new members initiated in the 2009-2010 academic year.
That results in a total of 45 new organization chapters, 9 new campuses with Panhellenic chapters and 5 new college NPCs.
There was also a heavier presence of the Risk Management Program “Something of Value” which went to 20 campuses to present to 1,544 members.
In total, there have been 4,192,669 sisters initiated into NPC since it’s founding in 1902 and Panhellenic’s headquarters are currently in Indianapolis, Indiana.
