Popular Summer Vacation Destinations in the U.S.

Due to the recent economic downfall many students, graduates and families are no longer taking lavish international vacations for summer break. Many are, however, choosing to explore America for a quick weekend or week-long trip, particularly these recently popular destinations:
Beauty: Texas Hill Country has stunning rolling green hills that rival the beauty of Tuscany or Southern France. Surprisingly the area is known for its 22 wineries, year round food and music festivals and German inspired schnitzelhausers and biergartens.
Active Lifestyle: The New Hampshire Trails Bureau boasts 800,000 acres of biking trails and rugged terrain, commonly called the Moab of the East. Bikers will also be pleased to discover the hidden waterfalls and forests at the Cherry Mountain Loop at nearby Twin Mountain.
Entertainment: Las Vegas, Nevada’s tourism has hardly ever been scarce, but now families are choosing to take trips there together. The pools and water slides at the legendary hotels on the strip are elaborate enough to rival tropical paradises. Kids are also ecstatic about exploring the hotels’ entertainment such as circus acts and amusement parks. Going without kids? The nightlife in Sin City boasts clubs, casinos, musical and performance shows, and much more!
Historic: Philadelphia, The City of Brotherly Love, has enough historical attractions to fill an entire summer. Whether it’s being sworn in as president or casting their votes in authentic ballot booths, children who visit the National Constitution Center have numerous options for education exploration. Also, at the Philadelphia Zoo, there is a new $20 million dollar Big Cat Falls exhibit, and Bartram’s Garden is a breathtaking botanical garden.
Water and Recreation: Lake Powell, straddling the Utah-Arizona border at the Glen Canyon National Recreation area, is a boating dream for families. With almost 200 miles of crystal clear blue water and stark red rock, the water sport opportunities are endless and the houseboats in lieu of actual land hotel rooms will make any vacation memorable.
