Rachael Ray's Education Background

Rachael Domenica Ray was born on August 25, 1968 in Glens Falls, New York. Her parents are James Ray and Elsa Scuder. Ray was raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. There, her family owned four restaurants. When Ray was eight years old, the family moved to Lake George, New York.
In 1995 Ray moved to New York City. One of her first jobs in New York City was at the candy counter at Macy’s. Later Ray helped open a New York City market. Eventually Ray moved to upstate New York and managed a hotel pub at The Sagamore, a hotel on Lake George. Ray’s position as a buyer at Cowan & Lobel, a gourmet market in Albany, became the turning point in her career.
In the market Ray taught a cooking class that taught people how to make meal in thirty minutes or less. The “30 Minute Meals” classes caught the attention of the the local news station. The station asked Ray to appear in a weekly segment on their newscasts. These broadcasts, a public radio appearance, and the publication of her first book, led Ray to a Today show spot and her first Food Network contract in 2001.
Today Rachael Ray is a celebrity chef, noted cookbook author and television personality. She hosts the syndicated talk and lifestyle program Rachael Ray and three Food Network shows, 30 Minute Meals, Rachael Ray’s Tasty Travels and $40 a Day.
Ray has launched a magazine as well. Every Day with Rachel Ray went to print in 2006. Ray’s talk show has won two Daytime Emmy Awards. On September 24, 2005 Ray married John Cusimano. He is a lawyer and lead singer of the rock band The Cringe. She owns homes in Lake Luzerne, New York, and Manhattan’s Greenwich Village.
