Reese Witherspoon's Education Background

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon is an American actress who is better known as Reese Witherspoon. She first became a household name in 2001 when she showed us that blondes can have fun and graduate from Harvard Law School in Legally Blonde. The next year she portrayed America’s sweetheart in Sweet Home Alabama. Since then, she has been nominated for and won many awards for her work. Her next movie to hit the big screen will be Water for Elephants, in which she co-stars with Robert Pattinson. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of this beautiful actress.
Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her father, John Witherspoon, is a Tulane University-education doctor and her mother teaches nursing at Vanderbilt University. When Reese was only seven-years old, she appeared in television ads for a local florist; the gig inspired a desire in her to act. However, Reese remained focused on her education and earned good grades in school. She really enjoyed reading and has called herself a “big dork” for being such a bookworm.

She graduated from Harpeth Hall School, an all-girl’s school. After high school, Witherspoon attended Stanford University, where she majored in English literature. After her freshman year, she decided to put her education on hold in order to pursue an acting career.
In 1990, Witherspoon was cast in her first movie, The Man in the Moon. She landed the lead role and earned great acclaim for her work in the movie. She had a variety of small roles in television movies and series, but her next big acting year was 1996, when she acted in Freeway and Fear. In 1998, she starred in Pleasantville and was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Funniest Scene. In 1999, she co-starred in Cruel Intentions, where she met her first husband, Ryan Phillippe. Two years later, she starred as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde; the role launched her into worldwide fame.
She went on to star in many other movies, including Vanity Fair and Just Like Heaven. Her next major role was portrayingJune Carter Cash in Walk the Line; she won a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and the Academy Award for Best Actress for this role. She has starred in several movies since then, including Rendition, Penelope, and Four Christmases.
On a personal note, Witherspoon married Phillippe on June 5, 1999. The couple has two children, Ava and Deacon. In November 2006, the couple filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause. She was rumored to be dating Jake Gyllenhaal in 2007, but the pair did not admit to the relationship until November 2008. In February 2010, rumor mills said Witherspoon was dating Jim Toth, a talent agent. The rumors turned out to be true and the couple announced their engagement in December 2010. They were married on March 26, 2011.
