Renée Zellweger's Education Background

Actress Renée Zellweger was born on April 25, 1969 in Katy, Texas. Zellweger is the second child of Emil Erich and Kjellfried Irene Zellweger; she has one older brother, Andrew. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of this talented actress.
Growing up, Zellweger could have been considered a “jock,” because she played many sports, including soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. She attended Katy High School, where she was very involved: she was a cheerleader, a gymnast, a member of the speech team, and a member of the drama club. She was voted “Best Looking” of her class when she graduated in 1987.
Zellweger attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she earned a BA in English. It was during this time that Zellweger discovered her love for acting. After college, she decided to stay in Texas to pursue an acting career instead of moving to Hollywood. Her first job was acting in a beef commercial.

Luckily, Zellweger moved past beef commercials quite quickly. She had minor parts in A Taste for Killing, Murder in the Heartland, and Reality Bites, which was directed by Ben Stiller. Her first main role was “Jenny,” a teenager in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. She starred in Love and a .45, Empire Records, and The Whole Wide World. However, she first became well-known for her work in Jerry Maguire, when she co-starred with Tom Cruise.
Her next big movie was Bridget Jones’ Diary. Zellweger had to gain 20 pounds in order to play Bridget, which she quickly lost again after the movie; her frequent weight fluctuations have been a topic of interest for the media.
When Zellweger played Roxie Hart in the critically acclaimed musical Chicago, her status as a celebrity was cemented. She earned her second Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in this film. Chicago won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture and the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Picture.
In 2004, Zellweger won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Cold Mountain. Since then, she has provided her voice for the animated movies Shark Tale and Bee Movie. She has also starred in Appaloosa, Living Proof, New in Town, Case 39, and My Own Love Song.
