Rob Thomas' Education Background

Rob Thomas is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He first got a taste of fame when he was the lead singer for the band, Matchbox Twenty. In 2005, he began a solo musical career and released his first solo album …Something to Be, which debuted at number one. After the release of this album, his career took off and Thomas became even more famous than he had been before. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of this talented man.
Thomas was born on April 14, 1972 at the Ramstein Air Base in Landstuhl, West Germany. His parents divorced when Thomas was very young and he spent most of his time with his mother. He grew up in Gainseville, Florida. When he was 17-years old, Thomas dropped out of high school during his senior year. Since then, he has earned his G.E.D. but has not pursued a higher education.

In 1995, Thomas joined the rock band, Matchbox Twenty, providing the lead vocals and playing piano for the band. In 1996, the band released their first album, Yourself or Someone Like You. The album went diamond in the USA and multi-platinum in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Their next album, Mad Season, was released in 2000 and was certified 4x platinum in the USA. They released another album, More Than You Think You Are, in 2002, but then went on hiatus in 2004.
In April 2005, Thomas released his first solo album, …Something to Be. The first single off the album, Lonely No More, peaked at number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other famous songs off this album include This is How a Heart Breaks and Ever the Same.
In June 2009, Thomas released his next solo album, Cradlesong. The album contains more of Thomas’ trademark romantic lyrics and upbeat tempos. Some of the more famous songs on this album include Her Diamonds, Give Me the Meltdown, Mockingbird, and Someday. The album has peaked at number 3 on the USA music charts.
On a personal note, Thomas married his wife, Marisol Maldonado, on October 2, 1999. He has a son from a previous relationship who is named Maison. With his wife, Thomas has established a non-profit organization called The Sidewalk Angels Foundation that helps the less fortunate in cities across the nation by providing medical care, personal assistance, and animal care for abandoned and abused animals.
