Sandra Bullock's Education Background

Sandra Annette Bullock was on born July 26, 1964 in Arlington, Virginia. She is the daughter of John W. Bullock, an Army employee and part time-voice coach and Helga D. Meyer, a German opera singer and voice teacher. Bullock attended Washington-Lee High School. She graduated in 1982. After graduation Bullock entered East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
She dropped out in her fourth year in spring of 1986. Bullock moved to Manhattan to become an actress. She was just three credits short of graduating. While in Manhattan, Bullock supported herself working as a bartender, a waitress, and even a coat checker. She eventually completed her coursework and graduated from East Carolina University.
Some of Bullock’s earliest roles were off Broadway stage productions. She was noticed and offered television roles in the late eighties. Bullock’s breakthrough role was in the 1994 film Speed. Speed made Bullock a movie star in the 1990s. A few of Bullock’s early successes included While You Were Sleeping, Miss Congeniality, and Hope Floats.
Her rising fame, Bullock was recognized by People magazine. She was named on of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1996 and 1999. Bullock’s 2004 supporting role in the film Crash earned her much critical notice. Some critics suggested that it was the best performance of her career
In November 2009, Bullock starred in The Blind Side. The film earned $34.2 million upon opening, making it her highest opening weekend ever. Since then, The Blind Side has grossed over $250 million, making it Bullock’s highest grossing film to date and the first movie in history to pass the $200 million mark with only one top ranked female star. Bullock won the award for Best Actress at the Golden Globes, Academy Awards, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance.
As of 2009, Bullock’s movies have grossed over $3.1 billion worldwide. Bullock’s total domestic gross stands at $1.7 billion.
