Sara Ramirez's Education Background

Sara Ramirez was born August 31, 1975 in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. She moved to the United States with her mother at the age of 13. Ramirez is perhaps best known for playing the role of Callie Torres in Grey’s Anatomy.
Ramirez graduated from the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts in San Diego, California. She went on to attend and graduated from the Juilliard School in New York City.
Ramirez began her career with bit parts in films and TV shows such as You’ve Got Mail, Spin City, Law & Order and Spider Man. Her career is not limited to acting. Ramirez is also singer and a stage performer. She won a Tony Award for her performance in Spamalot for role as the Lady of the Lake. Ramirez revealed that ABC executives loved the performance so much that they offered her a role on any show on the network. She picked Grey’s Anatomy, and joined the cast in 2006.
She still remains on the cast of Grey’s Anatomy and is also producing music.
