Sarah Palin Invents California Eureka College During Speech

It’s important to get your college facts straight, as former Governor Sarah Palin learned after giving a speech at California State University in Stanislaus. She spoke at a sold-out fundraiser held on June 25, where patrons paid $500 per seat according to the Los Angeles Times. “This is Reagan country,” she told the cheering crowd. “Perhaps it was destiny that the man who went to California’s Eureka College would become so woven within and interlinked to the Golden State.”
The problem? California’s Eureka College doesn’t exist. Ronald Reagan, Palin’s personal hero, attended Eureka College in Illinois from 1928 to 1932. He didn’t move to California until five years post-graduation. However, there is a town of Eureka, CA, where College of the Redwoods has a campus.
