Sean Combs' Education Background

Sean John Combs was born on November 4, 1969. Combs was born in Harlem, New York. He is the son of Melvin Earl and Janice Combs. Combs grew up in Mount Vernon, New York. When his father was 33 he was shot and killed. Melvin Combs was an associate of the New York drug lord, Frank Lucas. Melvin Comb’s death resulted from his affiliations with the drug lord.
Combs attended Mount Saint Michael Academy. Combs was a successful football player in high school and graduated in 1987. Combs went on to attend Howard University in Washington, D.C. Combs showed great skill in marketing and earned a reputation as a party planner while in college. During college Combs became an intern at New York’s Uptown Records. Combs made the trip back and forth between New York and Washington, D.C. for quite some time. Combs became a top executive at Uptown and eventually dropped out of Howard.
Combs had great success while at Uptown Records. He signed many notable acts, however in 1993 he was fired. In 1993 Combs established Bad Boy Records, which quickly thrived. Combs signed several acts and produced many acts too. In 1997, Combs recorded his first album. He released the work under the name, “Puff Daddy,” his childhood nickname. His single, “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,” spent six weeks at the number one spot. His debut album, No Way Out, was a number one album and won the 1998 Grammy Award for best rap album.
Combs became a major star. He was a household celebrity by the early 2000’s. Despite his many controversial legal issues, Combs has gone on to be internationally popular. Today Combs goes by his stage name, “Diddy”, and is known for being a rapper, a singer, an actor, and a men’s fashion designer. All of Comb’s businesses fall under the umbrella of Bad Boy Entertainment Worldwide. Those businesses include Bad Boy Records, the clothing lines Sean John and Sean by Sean Combs, a movie production company and two restaurant.
Comb’s has earned several honors for his work. He has won three Grammy Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards. His clothing line earned a Council of Fashion Designers of America award.
