Staying Safe While Studying Abroad

Chances are, you know how to stay safe when you are in your hometown. You probably know which areas to avoid, where to get a taxi if you need one, and how to avoid having your things stolen.
Although many of these same principles apply when you are living abroad, there are obvious times when it pays to be extra cautious. For example, I would not want to walk home alone after a night out drinking in Spain, even if this is something you would normally do at home.
Here are some additional tips for how to stay safe while studying abroad:
1. Employ the buddy system.
2. Take a taxi.
3. Don’t be an easy target.
4. Dress like a local.
5. Make copies of everything.
