Take a Trip Down Memory Lane with This Summer Reading List

Nobody likes taking an English class in the fall because we all know that this means we will get a long list of books that we have to read during the summer to prepare for the class. Now don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy reading a good book, but being forced to read some Victorian novel every summer and then answer questions about it in the fall? That’s not nearly as appealing.
So, what if we made our own summer reading list? Sounds like a good idea to me. And since I just graduated from college and am feeling a bit nostalgic for my younger years, I thought a reading list of books from my childhood would be a fantastic way to avoid thoughts of being a grown up. Harry Potter. All of them. With the final movie coming out this summer, it is a great time to revisit Harry, Hermione, Ron, and everyone else at Hogwarts. These books will keep you busy, but they are definitely worth revisiting.
Pay It Forward. This inspiring novel will leave you laughing, crying, and contemplating your own life. It’s a great book.
Speak. When the main character is attacked at a party, her life changes forever. But as things get worse, she begins to discover truths about herself that she did not know before. This book is an easy read and I really enjoyed it and the movie.
Absolutely Positively Not. This book is about a gay teenager who is not really ready to admit to himself that he is not straight. It is very funny but still manages to treat this sensitive topic with the respect that it deserves.
The Lord of the Rings.If you liked the movies, you’ll love the books. They can drag a bit at times, but if you stick with it, you will definitely be glad you did.
Twilight.Okay, so this one isn’t really an older book, but it is still worth glancing over again. The forbidden love triangle between a vampire, a human, and a werewolf is bound to leave many people craving for the next movie’s release in 2012.
