The Best 4th of July Fireworks Shows

It is almost the Fourth of July! This is one of my favorite holidays because it celebrates the birth of our country. And also I get to play with fireworks.
Usually I just get a few black snakes and sit back to allow my parents buy the more expensive, prettier ones. Unfortunately, they do not share my passion for fireworks and we usually end up with a measly amount of fireworks to set off.
This year will be different though. I plan on going to see a professional fireworks show in my hometown. And although it promises to be much better than my usual firecracker spectacular at home, it will not nearly compare to the top five biggest American firework events this year.
1. Thunder Over Louisville: Louisville, Kentucky. This event is one of the top 100 events in North America, so you know it has to be good. Thunder Over Louisville has been stunning spectators for more than a decade. The main sight to see is the signature “waterfall” show, a fireworks display that makes it seem like fireworks are raining off a bridge.
2. River Days: Detroit Michigan. This show lasts almost 30 minutes and impresses viewers with “the highest level of pyrotechnic artistry.” The best part? The show is choreographed to the music that plays during the show.
3. Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Display: NYC, NY. This show has been allowing New Yorkers and tourists to celebrate the nation’s birthday for more than 25 years. Those who have attended annually say the show gets bigger and better every year.
4. Pops Concert at the Esplanade 4th of July Fireworks Show: Boston, Massachusetts. This fireworks display is not only full of colorful boms and pows in the air, but it also includes a Pops Concert featuring Tchaikovsky’s “1812” Overture, cannons, sing-a-longs, church bells, and choreographed fireworks shows. This year, Pops Concert plans on using the largest shells it has ever used, which will propel the show up to 1500 feet in the air.
5. 4th Fest: State College, Pennsylvania. This display is put on by a non-profit organization that is run by volunteers and sponsors who are dedicated to celebrating our independence. The volunteers work year-round to organize a patriotic and family-oriented event that constantly impresses spectators in the central Pennsylvania area.
