Tim McGraw's Education Background

Samuel Timothy “Tim” McGraw was born on May 1, 1967 in Delhi, Louisiana, a town in Richland Pariah. He was born to his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann D’Agostino. McGraw believed his step father, Horace Smith, was his birth father for much of his childhood. However, his teenage mother was sent to live with relatives during her pregnancy that resulted from her high school relationship with Frank Edwin “Tug” McGraw Jr. “Tug” was a relief pitcher for the New York Mets and the Philadephia Phillies. At age 11, McGraw met his birth father for the first time and eventually changed his own name from Smith to McGraw.
McGraw attended Northeast Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana at Monroe, on a baseball scholarship. He also became a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. During college, McGraw learned how to play the guitar and took a great interest in performing. In 1987, McGraw’s mother moved to Florida and he chose to go with her. There, he attended Florida Community College at Jackson for one term.
Keith Whitley, a country music singer, died in 1989. On the day of his death, McGraw honored his hero by dropping out of college and headed to Nashville to pursue his own music career. McGraw was met with some initial minor success. He signed a contract and produced an album in 1990 with Curb Records. However, by 1994, McGraw produced the album, Not a Moment Too Soon, and it became the best-selling album in 1994. The second single from the album, “Don’t Take the Girl,” became McGraw’s first number one hit.
From his early success in the 1990’s McGraw’s fame was sealed. His career has been decorated with 11 consecutive albums debuting at one, 21 singles have hit number one, three singles have become the number one country songs of the year, he has won 3 Grammy’s, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association awards, 10 American Music Awards, and three People Choice Awards.
McGraw has also added actor to his list of talents. He has starred in several blockbuster successes including The Blind Side in 2009. McGraw is currently married to country super star, Faith Hill.
