Vera Wang: The Runway Looks You'll Want to Steal

Getty Images
Vera Wang’s 2011 spring collection claimed an unusual inspiration: Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill. Shown yesterday at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, the collection was thankfully free of yellow jumpsuits and crimson gore. It consisted of Asian-inspired garments with a touch of boyish tailoring. Nonetheless, the show exemplified several trends you’ll want to wear this spring.

Top Trends:
1. Kimono-Inspired Dress
Look for patterned silks, wide folds and asymmetrical necklines.

2. Knots at the Waist
From rope belts with shorts to origami details at the waist of dresses, these details echo the look of an obi.

3. Gauzy Layers
While some commentators bemoaned the dark color palette for spring, it did feature several silk tulle dresses in petal colors. A lightweight dress is perfect for a graduation party.

4. Knee Length Shorts
Shorts this long should be slim and well tailored.

5. High-heeled ankle boots
This style has been on the runway for a while, and it’s not going anywhere. Keep them at the front of your closet.
